When you are caring for someone, regular breaks from the physical and emotional demands put on you are essential. You need to let someone else take the responsibility for a while, have the chance to rest and also attend to your own needs and personal interests. If you don’t, your quality of life and well-being is likely to suffer.
We recognise that many carers are on low incomes. They cannot easily pay for replacement care or spend money on themselves.
If you are an unpaid carer living in East Lothian, and you are finding it difficult to afford a break from caring or a treat for yourself during the pandemic, then please contact us on 0131 665 0135 to discuss the support available.
Every year we administer a “Breaks from Caring” grant scheme with funding from the Scottish Government via Shared Care Scotland (funding usually arrives in the autumn). To receive updates of when our Breaks from Caring grant scheme opens for applications, please like or follow us on Facebook and/or sign up to our email list in the footer section of this webpage.
Alternatively, you can check the News section of our website regularly for our latest updates.
