***COMPETITION CLOSED***
Winning entries will be announced and shared later this month (August 2020)
The theme of Carers Week 2020 is “making caring visible”. In light of this, and the media attention on NHS workers and other key workers during the coronavirus outbreak, we want to offer unpaid carers a chance to make their own experiences of caring visible to a wider audience through a photo competition.
Please send an image that you feel captures an aspect of your life as an unpaid carer in recent months to centre@coel.org.uk. Use “lockdown photo” as the subject line. Include a brief explanation of why you have chosen the image that you are sharing.
You may wish to send a photo that illustrates:
- your resilience or resourcefulness in coping with the lockdown
- a change in your relationships with family, friends or pets
- a funny or touching moment that you captured on camera
- a new appreciation of your surroundings
- a kindness you experienced
- or something else entirely that offers a window on your lockdown life
Please state in your email that you give us permission to display your photo and accompanying explanation on our website and in an exhibition at a later date.
The competition will run from the 8th to 30th June 2020 – deadline now extended to 31st July 2020. Entries will be reviewed by a judging panel that includes carers and board members (but not entrants!). Winning entries will be announced in August 2020.
There will be prizes for the winning entry and runner up positions. The judging panel reserves the right to decide the final number of placed photos.
We plan to hold an exhibition of short-listed entries once social gatherings are allowed again. Further details of this event will be announced in due course.
