What brings me joy by Mags Bryan

I have a fairly large garden and although a challenge to keep on top of it, I am so grateful for this outdoor space to cultivate and nurture.

You will see from the video above I do have a variety of flowers in the garden but my greatest passion is seeing vegetables grow.

The mystery that a small seed, bulb or plant, hibernating in the hard earth of the dark winter months, hidden from light, will emerge with such strength and resilience,  bringing forth a cacophony of colours, gives me great joy and excitement.  And I get to both nurture and witness, that out of the barrenness, life comes once again.

I love seeing the never ending variety of shades of green, or the birds that sway on the teasels, drinking water from the cups created by thoughtful leaves. And the bees busily enjoying the fruit of their labours from vibrant colours of budding blooms.

It was last week when I woke to the ‘edibles’ –the vegetables, having overnight suddenly come into their own, that I found myself standing in the garden……… smiling.
