Breaks are important to Carers and CoEL supports Carers with these two ways
Short Breaks Service
Our Short Breaks Service provide advice and assistance to find a break that will work for both the carer and the person they care for. This could be just getting a bit of time for yourself in the day through to help with booking appropriate respite breaks for a week or two. We can help ensure that the Council provides funding for a break and sometimes also identify other sources of funds to make breaks affordable. We also run occasional days out for carers.
Creative Breaks Funding for Carers
We have been give funds by Shared Care Scotland to pass on to carers to help them to get a break from caring. We can offer grants to carers of up to £250 which can then be used to enable carers to get a break. We need to try to ensure that these funds help as many carers as possible and are used by carers in most need of support.
If you are interested in applying for a grant first read the attached information which explains who we can give funds to and how we will make decisions Breaks from Caring Fund Guidance Notes. If you want to apply please complete the application form and return it to the CoEL Office Breaks from Caring Fund – Application Form. One of our Carer Support Workers can help you with the application form if you wish or you can ask someone else for help.
